Introduction
This guide will explain how to implement what is needed for proper operation of this application, including instructions on how to install included support files.
System Requirements
This presentation was designed to be easy to use, fast and use minimal hardware resources.
The program's foundation is HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and contains Java scripts.
- Hardware:
Pentium or higher IBM® compatible PC
256MB of RAM (512MB recommended)
CD ROM reader (only requiried for CD version)
High Color VGA Video and VGA monitor capable of high color
- Hard
Drive:
CD version does not install anything not even a temporary file to your hard drive and only requires temporary RAM in your computer to run.
If the 'EXE' program is stored on the system's hard drive, the needed size is dependent on the specific application. Does not install anything to your hard drive except the application and requires only RAM overhead from your computer to run.
- Platforms:
This program runs under Windows® 95, 98, 2000, and XP which uses NT technology.
The optimum display properies settings should be set to Medium 16 bit Color Quality, and the screen resolution is best at 1280X1024.
- Speed:
The faster the CPU and CD ROM reader speed, the faster the images appear on your
screen. And of course the more RAM you have, the faster the imaging process will be.
Internet Explorer: Information Bar
There are new security options in Internet Explorer. The Information Bar may ask to allow blocked active.
Every time a program needs to use Java applets, including the search feature of this application, the Java applet has to be manually allowed to function.
Your system may ask to always allow 'pop ups' for the application. Choosing to always allow this will stop this message from appearing anymore in the specific application.
Also examine your firewall's settings and make sure Acitve-X is turned on.

|
Internet Explorer: Active Content
Active Content can be permanently allowed to run by doing the following:
- Open menu Tools+Internet Options+Advanced tab, then scroll down to the Security section - see screen shot on right.
- To run active content on CDs, make sure that "Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer" is checked.
- To run active content anywhere locally, make sure that "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" is checked.
Just "Allowing blocked active content" will let most Java applets run.

Java VM: Virtual Machine
You need a Java VM (Virtual Machine) runtime environment for your browser if you want to run Java applets.
The standard Java VM is provided by Sun as a browser plug-in called the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
To check if Java is installed, select menu "Tools+Internet Options" Advanced tab in Internet Explorer. Then
scroll down to "Java" (see screen shot at right) and check the box "Use JRE..."; then close
all browser windows and restart.
If you have a Java VM already, then you may need to update it.
For example, some old Microsoft Java VMs have problems running
applets on CDs such as search engines.
See below for instructions.
|
|
Get Java VM
If Java is not installed, the following error message is displayed:
Sorry, your browser is not set up to run Java applets.
|
|
Click and choose Run to install the the Java software..
Using D as the CD drive letter; D:\Java\ is where the installation program is.
|
|
Microsoft VM (Virtual Machine)
If you already have the Microsoft VM installed then you may need to update it.
You can update it at
Windows Update.
This is the preferred option as it will by definition be up to date.
To find your current Java VM version, select Control Panel and double click on the Java icon.
The version is the last number on the right, ie 1.6.0_05-b13 in this example:
